this company has outdoor rated battery lights.
takes 3 AA batteries, saw no mention of steady burn or flash, will investigate the matter. maybe can get a flasher bulb.
gonna get 2 strings, and i already got tinsel strands from walmart for $1@. don't forget

pics of last year's setup using 2 bike glow lights. they steady/slow flash/fast flash.
i did worry about the below freezing temps making the optic thingies brittle and breaking from vibration, but didn't happen, AND i kept it in an unheated shed.

helpful hints from heloise:
run wires/tinsel strands/ties UNDER your bare cables
stay away from tires/spokes/derailers/chain
put it all on loose first so you can try different spacing/routing
snug cables by hand
cut the ends off the ties
do the smaller kids' bikes first (cuts the learning curve)
house lights off before smoke test and let the kid(s) hit the switch
test ride
hot chocolate after
do these things and think it through and you will take maybe an hour to do
this instead of 3. gee, wonder how i knew that?
make it a family project(s). even little kids can at least feed you the wires/tinsel strands/ties.
the led lights from 1000 bulbs came today. the power switch has twinkle and steady positions. ANNNNNNNNNND they are BRIGHT, even in bright lighting!
