glad I didn't leave my lights at home. the last 15 miles was pretty dark and the last 5 were totally dark. felt so good to get back to the car. wish my computer had a light. I hate the last 8 miles without knowing how much further, I'm always thinking this is it but alas there's more. got a good workout. I can feel it. I feel like I felt strong the whole way too, but you wouldn't know it by my numbers. I had 5 stops including lunch at 1/2 way. it was good to see the South Wellfleet General Store open. Last year I found out they closed early 3ish, not sure about this year. The only public porta toilet is at the end of the trail in S. Wellfleet. Not a single other the whole length that I could see, not even at the start in S. Dennis. There was another but it did not look functional but it might have been. It was behind one of the restaurants in Eastham. ...

44.4 miles 23.2 max 13.8 avrg 3hrs 12min in the saddle. I barely wore enough. starting temp was 60 but in the shade with the breeze of the bike it felt like 45. I wore fingerless the whole out and fingered gloved the whole way back.

advice to others, start early dress warm bring a headlight bright enough to see by. don't expect your best speeds due to all the pine needles and some leaves covering the paved trail. there are only a few open areas. but don't be discouraged, it was still good riding and the needles are well packed in both directions where people and bikes travel every day.
