Are they cartridge pads? Even cantilevers can be upgraded to cartridge pad holders these days. Really helps with how much of a PITA it is to change them. When it is wet out here, sometimes pads only last 6 weeks. It's remarkable, they'll last months if it is dry, but as soon as it's wet, I start burning through them.
V style. My bike still has the OEM front brakes, with 4000 miles on them. They squeak a little but still function fine. Rear pads.. like I said..
I wondered how difficult it would be to go to the other format.
