When the Scituate Reservoir was made in the 1920s 7 villages in Scituate were condemned and flooded, including most of Saundersville. There were mills everywhere in Scituate because there was/is such an abundance of rivers and streams. There were over 20 mills operating in Scituate during the heydays of the 1860s.

I never tire of these pictures of ruins! Here in California we have to go way out in the desert or high in the mountains to find any sorts of ruins.
