Understand about having a base. That is a concern of mine. But the interval thing is just how the instructors all run the spin classes. I monitor heart rate with the intent of not going too far, but the instructors drive the classes as hard as they can. My wife and I are "surviving", and hopefully getting more fit as opposed to less and injured.
