I'm about the same size and I suspect a 54cm bike might be too big. Of course, a 54 in one brand/style is not the same as a 54 in another brand/style.
Anyway, follow the link to competitive cyclist that rms13 provided above. It'll give you a pretty good idea where you are like to be, size-wise.
