Just my 2cents... I just got a 2006 trek x01 and it rides awesome. Very fast on the street (comfortable too) and just as tough on the trails. Extremely versatile. I couldn't find a JTS in my area to test ride, but I did ride Cannondale's cyclocross bike too and found it very uncomfortable to ride on the street... definitely geared more towards off road.
