Kayak.... could be swimming? I'd think swimming would be even a better way to commute than riding a bike.
Perhaps, it's about 10km and the current can be strong.
I bought a crap one that I leave outside the flat and the mooring platform is literally 5m from the front door of the building.
There's also a boathouse about 20m from the office, where the students do crew.
