I understand that completely. I bought a 5.9 Madone that had the stock Bontrager direct-mount brakes. I replaced them with DuraAce 9010's because 1) they're black and match the fork at that point, and 2) the Bontragers look cheap. I guarantee you I could stop in the same distance with either.
I just meant that for strictly performance you will get more stopping power (and dollar value) out of aftermarket pads.
