...Mt Tam is the original home of the original sterotypical, stoner, mountain biker. The paved road has little in the
way of shoulders, and is usually pretty well trafficked (both cars and bikes). It is a very green, coastal redwood ecosystem.
Mt Diablo is not nuts, just a really steep climb right at the end, but it is probably more fun on a road bike, IMO,and there are better views.
