Being 5'9 and stocky, with big stocky legs --- socks that long would look like a clown show on me --- i generally will wear ankle socks everywhere (but as i mentioned , none on the bike) --
I will add that if i could go sub 11, 200m or sub 1:09 in the kilo ---- then i would wear whatever the heck i wanted
