I've been using a Performance brand (or maybe it's Nashbar) single wheel trailer for years without any issues with the bicycle.

I have bent the connecting arm carrying over load capacity, but that's it. Mine uses a replacement axle setup, and I've looked at that several times-- every winter and spring actually, when I swap my wheels out-- and it shows no signs of bending. How the trailer might damage a frame I don't understand.
