The guy's reasoning is sound in theory but I don't know how much of a problem it'd actually be. I've seen pictures of where the skewer failed at the acorn nut but I don't know if it was because there wasn't enough threaded skewer inside.

I wouldn't have all those things on the skewer simply because it'd be a pain to remove and reinstall the wheel.
