Ha, I wondering WTF until the 90° suggestion.
It's possible to disassemble these, but it's a fiddle. But they're pretty simple inside, and would probably benefit from an overhaul after 16,000+km.
The trick is finding something to engage the tiny nut you'll see if you prise up the lock-washer that lives under the mounting bolt.
I think I've used jeweller's long-nosed pliers in the past.
