One story about wind...doing the Lighthouse Century here in CA. Along the coast the winds get brutal... I believe we had a 40 mph headwind out to the turn around. I remember breaking down and crying a few times I was so tired. A very good friend allowed me to draft behind him for about 15 miles until I got to the turn around... but then, HEAVEN! I had those winds to my back. First time ever (and no doubt last) I was able to climb a hill at 25 mph! I was pusing close to 40 on the flats and then we turned inland... =sigh= all fun was gone!
