There's really no such thing as a minor "bump" by any part of a motor vehicle. While it doesn't always meet the legal definition, it's going to be perceived as assault with intent to maim/kill by the person who is struck. Any motorist who responds to an aggrieved cyclist whom he has just walloped by claiming it never happened is just asking for equal treatment.
