So my legs were tired at the 50 mile mark, so instead of the usual long downhill followed by a steady one mile climb before getting back to the house, I decided to take a little shortcut that would lessen my climb at the end...or so I thought. At the top of the shorter climb out, the cross street was too busy for me to deal with, so I had to cut across and then go a long block up a very steep hill, maxing out the heart and lungs. The best laid plans....
Anyone tells you DC is flat and built on a swamp, don't believe them...
