Yes, it definitely helps,

I rode the bike and it felt ok. But it was just a short burst around town.

I actually took it out in work boots. Having never ridden any bike with out toe cages I was somewhat surprised when my right foot contacted the front tire during a left turn. Work boot coming in contact with a semi knobbie tire gets your attention.

Not being able to physically try a medium leaves me guessing a bit. I may go back and give it another try. But barring the foot contact the rest felt good.

The seat has plenty of room to go up. The reach to the bars seemed fine. Stand over was around three inches of clearance. I don't want to over analyze this, but I don't want a bike bike that I regret buying either.
