If you want a supple ride, but don't want to spend a lot of cash, try Michelin PRO4 SC tires. They wear about the same as GP4000s tires(okay for a race tire) but are cheaper and more supple.

With wider hoops, the ride is every bit as nice as the best tubulars around.
