And ironically, the satellite photo I posted (as a stupid joke) actually does reveal something important about cycling where I live. My house is situated near that sharply divided snow line. This shows that it's very difficult to predict the weather on a given winter day. I often take a backpack full of extra clothing on a winter ride, because I have no idea whether we will have liquid rainfall, freezing rain, or six inches of snow in the next couple hours.
