i don't know if the OP did, but i remember it. zzzz...zzzz...zzzz...zzzz...zzz!
and i've never had the opportunity to embark on a tramp steamer, but i've ridden on a lot of ferrys from island to island in the u.s. and across the mississippi, the colorado and across lake michigan a couple of times. i always found it enjoyable. probably because the trips were never long enough to make me seasick, which happens to me all too easily.
