You can source the shorter bolts meant for the application quite easily, if you're willing. And yes, they're easy to switch out.

The old way, when recessed mounts were young and guys transferred brakes to their new frame, we put the rear to the front (minding the brake block direction) and threaded the front bolt down to become the new rear. Wears out dies fast though,
