Near the end of August I am planning a ride from Duluth, MN to Kingston, ON. I've got the route pretty well figured out except the stretch from O.S. to K.L. There seem to be choices north and south of Lake Simcoe with an equal number of rail trails to choose from on both trajectories.

I'm not even sure if the rail trails are the best way to go though I've used many of them on previous tours for both long and short stretches and like them when they are going in the direction I need to go and help me avoid traffic. A lack of pavement is usually not a deterrent.

Does anyone who is familiar with the territory have suggestions?
