If your camera supports WiFi like no1mad said it seems to, then that's the best solution. Download the app, put the phone in the right mode and that's it. Very easy and convenient.
If your camera doesn't support WiFi (like most), you have a few options :
1) you can buy a card reader that plugs into your tablet. A standard PC one won't work because the tablet is normally a usb device rather than a host, but you can get an adapter that will make it work, or just get an Android specific card reader. Then plug the card into the reader and the reader into the tablet and your files appear. I don't think any special app is required.
These devices also exist for iOS devices, though I think they only work on the iPad and not the iPhone or iPod, even though there's no technical reason they couldn't work on them except that Apple made them not work.
2) you can get one of the WiFi sdcards like a FlashAir or Eye-Fi. With those, you can connect the tablet to it the WiFI network the card creates and with their app (or sometimes a web service provided by the card) get at the pictures.
