Well, there's another technique I use with boots but I hope not to wear boots for approx 3 more months, so no pics of that one. I don't lace up the top 3 eyelets or so, wrap lace around my ankle once, then tie on my outboard ankles. I offset the laces so that the ends are about even when tied up to the outboard side.
