Water/bathrooms at Sycamore Canyon park, a few miles past Los Posas Road interchange. The porcelain facilities are at the north end; otherwise there are port-a-potties. Water is from spigots and is safe to drink.

Zuma Beach has 'decent' facilities. There is a Starbucks, grocery store and Chevron mini-mart at Trancas Canyon on the east side of PCH. Should be all you need for a round trip from Oxnard.

Have never experienced any safety problems at either spot; but as always be aware of what's around you.

Mornings should be reasonably calm. Winds this time of year tend to be from north to south; so you may have headwinds on the return, particularly on the more open sections of PCH south of Oxnard. Traffic is fast and gets busier the closer you get to Malibu. Space gets tight around Zuma Beach and Neptune's Net, particularly on the ocean side where the cars park.

If you feel like a challenge, head up one of the canyon roads - suggest Mulholland or Encinal - even for just a few miles. Or, for a nice turnaround loop, after Zuma Beach go right on Westward Beach, left on Birdview by the Sunset restaurant, left on Bluewater, left on Dune, right on Heatherclif, which will then take you back to PCH. Go left to return to Oxnard.

Have a safe ride-
