Strasbourg - Koblenz - Heidelberg - Strasbourg Bike Trip

Hello World Travelers,

My wife and I are in the preliminary stages of planning the route and any idea/tip will be appreciated.
About 500 miles at 40-50 miles per day, we will carry all our stuff in rear panniers on simple Hybrid rental bikes, but will sleep each night at a hotel/motel (no camping)
I would like to get an opinion if we should ride the first leg to Trier through the Saar region via Saarbrucken (bypassing the Vosges park from the south-west as we already toured there ) or alternatively add approx 40 miles and go via Nancy and Metz.
Which route is more scenic, exciting, different etc... ?

Please see here my preliminary route via Nancy/Metz - Riesling Route 2016 Preliminary
And this is the alternate via the Saar: strasbourg to trier via the Saar

Thank you !
