Just as an update - Late... I ended up finding a 2004 fuji Cross Comp Pro used. It has a brand new 9-speed ultegra drivetrain and brifters added (I still think I paid too much). Its been getting mostly road duty now. It seems like a nice bike and its a lot lighter than I expected. I planned on this being my "one" all around bike. Yeah, right...that was until I found a 2003 Colnago Master Light for a good price...now I'm back to 2 bikes
