The lockring will be totally secure but the cog can still spin around in place and shred off all the threads. That doesn't mean it definitely will get stripped, only that if it is going to strip for some reason having the lockring fixed like that won't save it.
The threads for the cog are fine but the lockring threads were flattened. The lockring will still thread on though. So I used the Rotafix meth to secure the cog and used the JB Weld almost like you would grease on the lockring threads and threaded the baby on. It has held up to some skids over the past week or so..Of course I will be stuck with a 15 tooth cog..
