I am with you there oboeguy. I have had to stop telling my wife about my near-accidents. She does not see them in the same light as I do. To me, they are learning experiences; to her, they are suggestive of my imminent demise due to bike commuting.
To to OP, I deal by venting here or I ride really really hard/aggressive for a few miles. It is a give and take relationship. Some cars cut me off, but I right-turn-fakey on many lights right through the middle of them as well. They don't shoot me for it; I don't kick in their lights. In reality, I get away with far more crap than I have pulled on me, and I like it that way.
