Just to qualify, I don't have a lot of bicycle mechanic experience. I know how to do very basics, enough to get me to work, school, and back (commuting's my biking application). There is a piece of metal attached to the front derailleur that my chain goes through as it's on its way to my front chainrings. When I'm in my 2 smallest gears, my chain rubs against this guard. I know this is probably just a simple problem with bounds for the front derailleur. Would someone be obliged to tell me if this is something I can tackle, and if so, how? Thanks in advance.

Take a pic. of what your talking about and post here. I have no idea what your talking about as far as the above comment.
