Many of you will, or course, be aware of the excessive gloating I have been doing about my recent (i.e. the last 12 months) run of relatively few flats. Well, those who were awaiting my downfall can now crow in some satisfaction. One afternoon last week I decided I was sick of hitting the books, so I went for a ride, which ended up becoming a century. However on the way home when I hit Runaway Bay, I had three flats in the space of a kilometre, plus my pump decided to stop working.

Ultimately sheer bloody-mindedness got me through the ride. However, I can say that I have now been well and truly paid back (with interest). I won't be gloating anymore.
