You don't mention the time between painting and riding, but even oven-baked enamel paint is going to require some curing time before it reaches its final hardness. Chances are the paint will harden up after a few weeks. Try to be gentle...

seems to be getting better. there was about two weeks inbetween painting and riding (with a trip acorss the pond inbetween).
