SOMA Rush has a similar set-up. There are plenty of roadie types who have to have two brakes or want to run SS. However, most folks are going to be brakeless or running just a front brake. They probably don't care that the rear bridge is drilled but will care if theres cable guides ruining the lines.

Its a design compromise.

It also means you can splash out for some vintage Campagnolo cable clips
