I had to go with a class 1 reciever hitch, as that's all that would fit on the Ford Focus. With an SUV, you will have a class II or III. Now, if you do go with a receiver rack, do get one that's made for the larger receiver. Mine uses 1 1/4 square tubing and comes with an adaptor for the 2" receiver. Get a rack that's made for the larger receiver and it'll be much more solid.
