Well, I don't fall into the "non-competitive" category, but I'll answer anyway.

My roadie friends, of course, understand. Fron my mountain biker friends, I often hear a cry of, "What the heck is wrong with you roadies!"

So far as non-cyclists, most of my male friends think it's wierd, and don't understand at all (my father falls into this category too). Of course, they all think I'm wierd anyway, so this is just another strike against me. My female friends are, for the most part, pretty amused by the whole idea. We'll sit around and give shaving tips and have waxing parties. Most agree that girl-talk with a boy is a new experience for all.

And my girlfriend, unlike most of my friends' gf's, thinks it's really, really neat.

So far as shaving goes, I try to keep it to just my legs, and my face when I'm trying to look pretty for someone. I don't have any hair on my chest to begin with, and I did my pits once for a party (I went in drag), and let me tell you, once is enough in any man's life.
