My 8-speed chain is 7,2mm wide and a 10-speed chain is 6,1-6,2mm wide. From this I would expect the spacers should be about 0,5mm thick.

I expect I can't be the first one to have done this, anybody with experience?

Thanks

It will work fine even without the spacers. But if you're anal about the spacing, try this http://www.branfordbike.com/cgi-bin/perlshop/perlshop.cgi?ACTION=push&thispage=chains/chains3.html&ORDER_ID=482273811#item2.

btw, you would need to change your bottom bracket to a Campy too
