About 300 km (or more) away (unless you call Canadian Tire and Walmart a LBS

I really wish we had a local bike shop, but in these parts of Alberta, there just aren't any. (The one we did have about 30km's away, while not really a bike shop, but a general sports shop, got out of bikes. Guess there just wasn't enough money in it).
So, it's been annoying me long enough that I decided to finally share it with anybody that cares about my plight. But, from what I've read about a lot of shops, is a lot give crummy service. Although it would still be nice to have someplace local to go to order specialty items so that I won't have to deal with the hassle of ordering from the states (I've had a bit of bad luck with that, but that's another topic).
Anyone else in the same boat?
