I went from a 1992 Trek 2100 w/aftermarket OCLV carbon fork (back then the 2100's had a carbon tubed main triangle) to a 1998 IF Crown Jewel (TruTemper and Reynolds 853 steels w/Steelman straight bladed steel fork). It was a bargain build for me since the LBS was our sponsor and IF was the team bike supplier then. The build was less than 3k. I'm still riding the IF religiously. Ride is as good now as it was when i bought it. Even better since i upgraded it from 8sp D/A to 9sp D/A and a FSA carbon Team Issue crank. Im pondering the 1" threadless carbon fork upgrade. The Trek will again get rebuilt as a dedicated TT bike.
