A number of years ago, I had to work on a Saturday. That meant giving up my Club Ride. So no problem, I reasoned, just ride to work. I lived in Manhatten Beach, CA and needed to get to mid-Wilshire area just West of downtown LA. Wasn't so bad riding there early in the morning. Although I went through some pretty distressed neighborhoods (like south central LA), it was quiet, folks still sleeping. I worked until 3 or so and took off home, OK now I was scared. Like weirdness came out of the woodwork. Talk about incentive to keep moving! Anyway did it once and once only. Think I was lucky to not be stopped, ***** and killed! I'm serious!
