As an FYI, I have two bikes with the same gear configs, derailers, etc. but they have different SRAM shifters. On one bike, they have the the Revo-shift grips, which switch to the bigger gears by twisting away. The Grip-shift models switch to the bigger gears by twisting towards you.
The Revo shift works like a charm. Very fast, no searching or waiting.
Look more closely, Revo shifters are Shimano, not SRAM.
