Get Hurst's "The Art of Urban Cycling."

While Forester may have been one of the first to write down what he observed experienced cyclists were doing... the book EC is rather dated and written with a "heavy pen."
Hurst's book is a much easier read and offers examples of urban situations where even Hurst learned through hard knocks. Hurst recommends riding further to the left too.
