I haven't locked my car in years, possibly decades. Leave it open, let people rummage around if they feel the need, take what they find, just don't break sh*t. One place I lived, a triplex in Seattle, total car prowl magnet, our car was the only one that didn't get its windows broken. It still got gone over several times, but no damage at least.
