Pedals for Bianchi Bergamo

Hi all, sorry I've not been round much lately: out riding so much I never have time for hardly anything else!

So, here's my question: I've just bought a Bianchi Bergamo and noticed from the git-go that the nylon pedals just won't do for my 15+mile commute around campus every day. Now, the problem lies in that I want to continue to use platforms but also want the increase in power transmission from metal pedals as well as the increased efficiency of clipless pedals, even though I don't have the shoes and nor can I afford both.

So, I guess my question is: What kind of plats would you all recommend? I have an upper price range of maybe $75 for the set. Any ideas?

Cheers!
