Those people are misinformed. At sub-40 mph speeds, there is no advantage. They even think that mildly ovalised tubes reduce wind resistance
Run the calcs yourself with the correct Reynolds number.
NASCAR is a different matter, not many cyclists can ride at over 150 mph.
