Hi from Victoria, British Columbia

Like many others, I discovered this site purely be accident while surfing for a good bike site and after lurking for a couple of weeks have come to the conclusion that you folks have a wealth of information that I would like to tap into.

I live in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. For those of you unfamiliar with our climate, we have a very moderate climate with little or no snow in the winter. When it does snow, it usually lasts only a day or two and then it's gone. We do get a fair amount of rain but we can ride throughout the year.

I am realtively new to biking having just purchased a Trek 7500 (hybrid) three weeks ago. Since that time I have cycled 380 kilometers (237 miles) and just love getting out on the road. We have been very fortunate here to have the driest summer in over 50-years which has allowed me to get out on the bike fairly often.

My goal next summer is to ride from Banff to Jasper, Alberta in the Canadian Rockies in two days. it's a 307 kilometer trip (190 miles). If anyone has done the trip I would appreciate hearing from you about your experience.
