For a good-condition 105 rear derailler from 2002, I'd say you should pay him $20. If he wants to sell them together, and you still want a newer Shimano rear derailler, go to eBay. Or buy them both off of him and sell the braze-on FD on eBay yourself.
I wouldn't. I got a brand new 105 RD for $26 shipped, and that was a year ago off ebay.
