Heh...you guys don't know how to use them. True, you'll often start off on the platform side, but to get to the SPD side, take your foot off for about a quarter to half revolution and the SPD side will come up. Clip in and go. And if you don't always wear bike shoes, like when it's snowing and you're wearing boots, the platforms come in handy.

I wouldn't use them on my fixie, but I could.
