bottom bracket standards and carbon improvements

2 questions I felt needed a separate thread from the racer tech thread:

where do you think Bottom brackets standards will go in the future? I hate BB30. **** BB30. PF30 looks promising, but still seems fairly new. BSA, is the only standard that has withstood the test of time. Will the industry gravitate back towards BSA, or will the lower manufacturing cost of pressed BB frames continue to dominate the higher end bikes? Will shimano finally come out with a 30 mm crank? are the groupsets going to start coming out with 30mm bottom brackets rather than BSA?

how much improvement do you think bicycles will make in the next coming years? Has the improvement in the frame weight, compliance, stiffness, etc plateaued, or are there still a lot of room for improvement? cycling is undoubtedly mostly marketing. I find that the profound claims being made by the manufacturers every year are way over exaggerated, and that the improvements are in fact marginal. This makes me want to just buy an unbranded bike, which I feel carries the greatest value because it offers the same utility of a high end bike, without the price tag. Does anyone work in the industry? perhaps you can shed some light on this

I think it will be BB30 for a long time. Not because its better, but because its a standard.

Bike improvement? That is a reflection of UCI requirements. Most want to ride what the pros ride. UCI determines what the pros ride. There will be improvement in reliability. Likely more standard aero like FELT AR FRD, Giant Propel and Venge being standard vs. aero. I see electronics/auto shifting, internal fork caliper brakes and maybe disc brakes (I don't think so long term). But not too much in the way of big changes. It is after all a tool to test the riders. If you want to go fast - get a motor.

uci only controls what's legal and what's not. they don't control how the frame is made, which is what ultimately determines the quality.

BB30 works great. If you have a problem with it then you are the idiot.

Carbon technology will continue to improve to offset the weight gains from wider wheels fatter tires and disc brakes.

I predict a future where entire bicycles are built out of bb30 bearings connected to each other with thick epoxy. Hundreds of bb30 bearings linked together in standard frame shapes and sizes. bb30 headsets with 10 bearings inside to inconvenience the customer, wheels with bb30 hubs, shifters with massive bb30 bearings controlling the shifting action, and all those bb30 bearings will arrive covered in a mesquite dry rub and will creak like the fiery gates of hell.
