how many pairs of wheels do you have

    what's your bike:wheel ratio?

For road bikes, mine is currently 2:3. 2 pairs of carbon clinchers and 1 pair of tubulars for racing. I don't like to have stuff, so I'm considering getting rid of the tubular because it doesn't get very much use, and two pairs of wheels are plenty as far as backup wheels. On the other hand, my tubulars are 300g lighter than my lighter clincher set (tires included). I don't know if that's a real advantage or not. Looking for wisdom.

You're going to get answers all over the place.

For wheels I use all the time I have one usable road bike and 4.5 pairs of wheels (3 front race, 2 rear race, 2 pairs of training clinchers).

My back up road bike is not set up right now. I'd consider it equal to my current primary road bike, just needs a stem.

For other stuff… I probably have 8 or 10 pairs of wheels but some are specific for bikes. Pair of disc road wheels for the tandem. 3 wheels for the track bike. 2 pairs clinchers, 2.5 pairs tubulars for non-wide race wheels. Sitting around. 2 pairs for mtb. Maybe 3-5 pairs misc wheels. Maybe more.

    Three Road Bikes:Four Wheelsets
One Cross Bike:Two Cross Wheelsets (Technically one is shared with Road)

In reality I have two road wheelsets. November 58mm carbon with powertap. Stans 340s with powertap. The Stans wheelset gets cross tires for CX season and a trainer tire during the deep winter months.
I have two non-powertap road wheelsets that basically sit in the basement with no purpose in life. I would get rid of them if I thought they were worth anything.

Not enough. My "race" wheels are aluminum clinchers. I'd like a set of carbon clinchers. Clinchers cause I'm lazy and I figure I can shunt those off for training and pit wheels if I do trade up for some nicer tubulars. I do have some carbon tubulars for the cross bike this year. Still getting them ready. Basically, two pairs per bike, but in one case they aren't the right pair.

Ha. One road bike with one set of powertap (not working) training wheels that I train, commute and race on. I also got an 80mm front this year fot TTs that I'll very occasionally bother with. Apparently I also have a Mavic rear with 12/25 or something that I never use. Track bike only has the one wheelset, high spoke count, low profile, idk what they are, they came with the bike for free lol. Basically one bike = one wheelset.

One set of clinchers for each of 6 bikes. 2 rim brake road bikes and 4 disc brake bikes (cross, mtb, ss, winter).

Also 2 sets of carbon tubulars for racing.

And 1 set of heavy duty disc brake clinchers with studded tires mounted that weigh literally 11.5 lbs. I've ridden those 3 times total I think.

I'd say I have enough wheels and too many bikes. Or, 3.5 wheel sets (1 alloy, 2 carbon, 1 solo disc) and 2 bikes (TT and road).

Between my wife and I, we have three sets of aluminum clinchers and two sets of carbon tubulars for the road bikes, and then one set of cross wheels for each of our cross bikes - she has disc brakes and I do not. I also recently sold a pair of Mavic Cosmic Carbones.

For my road bike: 1 set alloy training wheels, 1 set carbon clinchers, 1 set carbon tubulars. I keep thinking I'll sell the tubulars but haven't gotten around to it.

20-25. Not all that good, but me, wife and racing son - I like wheels.
Likely 75-100 tires in some state.
Rideable bikes - 7 (wife, me, son). Son, Daniel has 3-4 rideable. Frames - some 15 or so.

Race bike - 1 pair general training wheels, 1 rear PT wheel, 1 pair 60mm carbon clinchers, 2 pairs mostly worn out back up wheels
Rain bike - 1 pair wheels (plus use the PT rear wheel)
Fixed gear - 1 pair wheels
Mtn bike - 1 pair wheels

So 4 bikes, 7 front wheels, 8 rear wheels.

One commuter bike with a set of wheels. Really cheap and heavy.

One old steel Serotta with a second set of old-school tubulars from way back then. The second set used to be on my commuter (1986 C'Dale. Mavic GP4's with Campy Record hubs. A gazillion miles on them.) The first set are C-Record hubs on GEL 280 rims.

One rain bike with a set of wheels. These are Race-Lites with too many miles on them. The braking surfaces are getting thin.

One "used to be my race bike" with 1.5 sets of wheels. I still have my race wheels (EDGE deep section carbon tubulars), but my Mavic Elite training/wheel car set has had its 4th rear rim failure and it is off to Mavic for a rebuild so I only have the front right now. I am using the Race-Lite rear wheel mentioned above for riding.

I have another front wheel that is training/race worthy without a matching rear because the rear rim cracked on a pothole. It is hanging in my laundry room on a hook.
I'm the world's forgotten boy. The one who's searchin', searchin' to destroy.

Just got my openpro's back after having the bearings re-packed. The mechanic said they were in pretty good shape considering I had about 30k miles on them.

those are pretty good wheeels. 36 spoke front and back? about as durable as you can get. but I'm too fancy to go back to aluminum.
